The "Chalewote" hitmaker OJ Blaq passes on.

Andy Nii Akrashie, a Ghanaian actor and musician famously known as OJ Blaq has kicked the bucket.

It was announced by the entertainment industry stakeholders together with the Empowerment Worship Centre where he served as a junior pastor before his death. He was known to be battling with the dreadful kidney disease hence netizens think that was what took his life.

 He was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2021 and went through dialysis treatment. Though he became active and appeared healthy years later yet, his drastic weight loss became an issue of great concern.

OJ Blaq was known for his unique rapping style and his social commentary in his music. In 2009, he produced his biggest hit song "Chalewote" which was buzzing on the airwaves across the country.

He joined the Lynx Entertainment during the label's early days. In his acting career, he featured in the popular TV series "Suncity".


His Repentance

Following his near-demise experience with the kidney failure, OJ Blaq turned to God. In an interview after his ordeal, he affirmed that his craft is now directed towards winning souls for Christ.

He said, "I am not that guy anymore. God has saved me. I died and God has brought me back to life. My old behaviour died with me. I am now a new creation."

He released a couple of gospel songs like, "Have your way and many others.
