Asante Kotoko makes U-turn on two youngsters amid loan move

Asante Kotoko is set to kick off a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2024/25 season by farmlasing out defender Yahaya Dawuni and winger Bernard Somuah.

The Porcupine Warriors have already parted ways with 18 players, including captain Danlad Ibrahim, Eric Serge Zeze, and Moise Pouaty.

According to reports, Dawuni and Somuah have agreed to go on loan following a meeting with the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC). The duo could be offered to Ghana Premier League sides ahead of the start of the new season.

But the latest updates from Somuah’s camp indicate that the player is no longer going on loan but staying with the club for next season

Dawuni joined Kotoko last summer from Division One League side Susubiribi but struggled to break into the team and made no appearances for the club.

Somuah, 18, joined Kotoko in August 2023 and managed to make 16 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

With the loan deals expected to be finalized soon, it is likely that Kotoko will continue to offload more players in the coming weeks as they look to revamp their squad ahead of the new campaign.
